Educate your Clients on Disability Insurance Coverage

Lack of education seems to be the number one reason why only 26% of the workforce owns disability insurance. Facts from 2015 LIMRA study:

  1. 1/3 of people said they would consider DI if they knew more about it
  2. 1/3 said that they probably couldn’t afford DI
  3. Women estimated cost of DI at $50 a month on average and men estimated $60
  4. Real cost averages for DI: $200-$300 annually (less than 1/2 public’s assumptions)
  5. 6-10 Americans believe people need DI
  6. 1-4 of today’s 20 year olds will become disabled before retiring
  7. On average, disability lasts 3 months or more
